PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive thermal energy storing material, consisting of specific hydrocarbon compounds prepared by hydrogenating an alpha-olefin, excellent in thermal energy storing efficiency and suitable for especially storing thermal energy of cold heat generated from absorption type refrigerators, etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective thermal energy storing material obtained by hydrogenating a 10-20C (preferably 12C, 14C or 16C) alpha-olefin in the presence of a catalyst under conditions of about 1-50kg/cm<2>G (especially 30kg/cm<2>G) pressure at about 1-10mol/mol (especially about 2-5mol/mol) ratio of hydrogen/ raw material, about 0.2-1.8 (especially 0.6-1.0) LHSV and about 50-300 deg.C (especially 100-200 deg.C) temperature and having 1-20 deg.C melting point and using the resultant hydrocarbon compound mixture. |
