PURPOSE:To lighten the speed-change shock by detecting the inertia phase from the variation of the engine revolution speed during speed-change period and switching a lock-up clutch into released state when inertia phase is detected. CONSTITUTION:The engine revolution speed is compared with the revolution speed determined from the product of the output-shaft revolution speed of an automatic transmission and the gear ratio of the speed-change stage before speed change, and when the difference becomes over a certain value, inertia phase is judged, and when the inertia phase is realized, a lock-up clutch 28 is switched from engagement state to release state. With such constitution, the lock-up clutch 28 can be switched in the actual inertia phase, independently from the dispersion of each part of the automatic transmission and the traveling state, and the speed-change shock can be lightened. |
