FORMATION OF OPTICAL INTEGRATED CIRCUIT

PURPOSE:To improve the operation efficiency by forming chip components and an optical waveguide circuit board making their optical axes coincident with each other individually and storing the chip components in the chip component storage part of the optical waveguide circuit board at the time of assembly. CONSTITUTION:The optical components are the chip components 9c and 9d of specific size which are connected to an optical waveguide 5 previously so that the optical axes are made coincident with each other, and the optical waveguide circuit board 7 is provided with the storage part 6 with which mutual optical waveguides 5 are made coincident with each other when the chip components 9c and 9d are stored at their storage part. Then when the optical integrated circuit is formed, the chip components 9c and 9d are stored in the storage part 6 to constitute the optical integrated circuit. Specially, the optical waveguide 5 in the optical waveguide circuit board 7 is constituted in a mesh shape and the storage part 6 for the chip component 9c of the same size is provided preferably at the intersection of the optical waveguide 5. Consequently, the operation efficiency is improved and many and various kinds of the optical integrated circuits can easily be formed.
