L-ascobyl-2-polyphosphate esters of formula (I) and their salts are prepd. In the formula, R is monophosphate, diphosphate, triphosphate, tetraphosphate etc. (I) is obtd. by reacting Lascorbic acid (salt) and trimetaphosphate in the presence of antioidant e.g. -SH cpd. (cystein, H2S, thioacetic acid, thioglycolic acid etc.), propylgallate etc. and passing through strong acid cation exchange resin (H+ type).
