Method for producing a band support for dressing slabs and the like, of the type comprising a body and a slide which can move in the said body, capable of extending beyond the latter, pushed by a spring, characterised in that the body 1 of the support is obtained with the aid of a flank, cut out flat and then folded. A flank is cut out and then two opposite edges of the said flank are then lifted, at right angles and on the same side, along two parallel folds 4, the ends of the sides 6 thus obtained being turned down parallel to the middle part 5 of the body in such a way as to form a slide channel for guiding the slide 2. <IMAGE>
