<p>PURPOSE:To improve definition of a scanning optical point with the same number of light emitting elements as compared with an optical scanner only by a light emitting element array by providing optical polarizers capable of controlling the emitting direction of the light emitted from the elements to the respective elements. CONSTITUTION:Many light emitting elements T and optical polarizers D paired with the elements are arranged in one direction. The optical polarizers to which optical beams emitted from the elements T(i) are incident are D(i). When the element T(0) is turned ON, the polarizer D(0) is controlled to simultaneously start polarizing, and when the polarized beam of the polarizer D(0) reaches and end point X1 on a photodetecting surface 100, the element T(1) simultaneously emits a light and the polarizer D(1) starts operating. In this case, the position of the optical spot corresponding to the point X1 is regulated to coincide with the spot position of the starting point of polarization of the polarizer D(1). When the resolution number of the polarizers D is N and the total number of the elements is M, the total number of the elements when the polarizers are added to the elements is 2M. Accordingly, if N>2, the definition is improved as compared with the case of an array of only the elements with the same number of the elements.</p> |
