METHOD FOR PREVENTING COMMON SALT FROM CAKING

PURPOSE:To prevent common salt from caking for a long period in storage in the air without exerting coloring or a change in taste on the common salt by adding sodium alginate to the common salt. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution of sodium alginate in 0.5-10wt.% concentration is added and mixed with common salt so as to provide 5-500ppm sodium alginate based on NaCl. The resultant mixture is then dried.
