Machine making it possible to produce threads comprising a stretchable (elastomeric) core and a covering consisting of filaments 11a, 11b interlaced around the said core. In this machine, the path of the various components intended for forming the thread (core plus covering) is perfectly linear from the feed 2 of elastomeric thread 3 intended for forming the core to the triangulation point 10 for the reception of the formed thread. Moreover, each workstation is controlled individually and comprises means making it possible to start up each station independently of the others, whilst preserving perfect synchronism between the delivery units 5, 6, 7, the feed and the reception 9. <IMAGE>
