Device entitled "Accelerator for use in obstetrics" for better assisting the movement of the baby. It consists of a support element, of tubular or cylindrical shape for example, receiving an expandable element which can be folded up inside an introducer. These two elements may optionally be of one-piece design. Once the introducer has been withdrawn, the expandable element is inflated to its chosen functional shape either by pressure or by a mechanical means. A push sensor is provided on the corresponding end in order to determine and control the traction force, this being either of the manual type or of another type, optionally with an intermediate spring for regulating this assisting force.
