IC CARD AND READ/WRITE APPARATUS THEREOF

PURPOSE:To dispense with the battery of an IC card and to make said IC card thin by providing a card base material and the IC module embedded in the recessed part provided to said card base material and embedding a photochromism material in the card base material. CONSTITUTION:A photochromism material 5 for displaying the content of an IC card 28 is embedded in the surface of an IC card base material 1. A desired display data can be displayed on the photochromism material 5 by irradiating said material 5 with laser beam having a specific wavelength and a card user can use an IC card 8 without anxiety while confirms the data in the card. Since the photochromism material 5 is a non-volatile memory, a battery is unnecessary in the IC card 28 and the IC card 28 can be made thin. Further, the photochromism material 5 may be merely embedded in the IC card base material 11 without electric connection and the electric circuit of a display driver is not increased and cost reduction can be realized.
