The invention relates to a combined spring and shock absorber. When constructing relatively soft springs and shock absorbers it can be difficult to obtain desired properties with simple means, e.g. progressive springing and, in particular, reassuring stiffness in the crosswise direction relative to the springing or absorbing movement. An essential improvement has been achieved by the invention, according to which the spring or shock absorber is constructed from a plurality of sleeves 4-7; 23-26 of adequate materials, arranged one inside another and connected alternately at opposite ends, in the radial direction, and supporting each other in the sideways directions. Material and dimensioning may be varied inside wide limits without losing the sideways stiffness, and possibly liners may be arranged between the sleeves for influencing the properties in this respect. <IMAGE> |
