PURPOSE:To maintain superior catalytic performance even after longtime use at a high temp. by supporting Pt and Rh on a carrier coated with activated alumina with a gaseous mixture of a Pt compd. with an Rh compd. CONSTITUTION:Pt and Rh are supported on a carrier coated with activated alumina with a gaseous mixture of a Pt compd. with an Rh compd. to obtain a catalyst for purification of exhaust gas. Since the Pt and Rh are supported in the form of the gaseous mixture, a solid soln. of Pt and Rh is easily formed, grain growth after long-time use is inhibited and the solubilization of the noble metals in the alumina is also inhibited. The noble metals are satisfactorily supported on the carrier through which exhaust gas flows, the purifying performance is enhanced and superior catalytic performance is maintained even after long-time use at a high temp. |
