Hub for wire spools from which wire is drawn off by means of a wire feed motor, especially spools for welding wire and the like. The hub 1 comprises an electromagnetically operated brake device 9,11, which is inactive and allows the hub 1 to rotate freely in its mounting when the wire is drawn off from the spool 2 by means of the wire feed motor. A member 15 is arranged to supply current to and activate the electromagnetic brake device 9,11 when the wire feed motor is deactivated in order to stop the rotation of the hub and hence of the spool as soon as the wire feed is halted. <IMAGE> |
