PURPOSE:To obtain the title compound from allyl chlorides and alkyl hydroperoxide using a long life catalyst system consisting of a modified catalyst having Ti and silanol groups on a silicon dioxide carrier and having the surface almost substituted by substituent groups and alkaline earth metal basic compound co-catalyst. CONSTITUTION:When allylchlorides are reacted with alkylhydroperoxide to provide epichlorohydrin, the reaction is carried out using a long life catalyst system consisting of a modified catalyst having titanium atom and silanol groups on a silicon dioxide carrier as a catalyst and obtained by substituting 1-50% of silanol groups on the catalyst surface with the substituent group R [formula I-formula VII (R1-R3 are H, halogen, aromatic, etc.; R4 and R5 are H, aromatic, aliphatic hydrocarbon, etc.)] and co-catalyst of a basic compound of alkaline earth metal. According to the above-mentioned method, high reactivity and economical catalyst productivity is exhibited using the alkylhydroperoxide as an oxidizing agent and the aimed compound is industrially advantageously obtained. |
