Acceleration friction damper system - uses inertia weight to clamp friction surfaces onto moving rod

The friction damper (1) for impact and vibrations consists of a damper-rod (3) in a tube (2) between which is a friction piece in the form of a sensor mass (4) for transmitting frictional forces. When the friction damper accelerates the sensor mass (4) touching the friction damper (1) is deflected. The torque produced by the deflected sensor mass (4) by means of a causes engagement of friction sufaces (c,d), which produces acceleration-dependent frictional forces on the contact surfaces between the damper tube (2) and the damper rod (3). The two opposite-facing sides of the damper pipe tube (2) each have a cavity (8,9). USE/ADVANTAGE - The friction damper operates in conjunction with speed and acceleration.
