In flat-bed knitting machines with synchronizing pulse generators which produce synchronizing pulses for synchronization of the needles for further processing in electronic control devices, the synchronizing pulse generator (10) is connected, in a vertically adjustable manner, for example by means of a rotating joint (8), to the cam carriage arrangement (19). As a result, variations in the vertical distance between the carriage guide rail and/or running rail (3) and a synchronizing pulse generator running rail (16) on which a toothed element (17) is mounted are not critical. The vertically adjustable connection between the synchronizing pulse generator (10) and the cam carriage arrangement (19) is achieved by means of a rotating joint (8) or an elastic element such as a spring telescope element or a pneumatic element.
