A laundry dryer (10) has an interior (13) for the reception of laundry and a condenser (40) into which can be introduced on the one hand steam-laden hot air (14) from the interior (13) and on the other hand a cooling medium (15) which are brought into heat-conducting contact in the condenser (40) for the purpose of cooling the air (14). The condenser (40) has a first cavity for guiding the hot air (14), a second cavity for guiding the cooling medium (15) and a heat-conducting intermediate wall separating the cavities over a large area. In order to make it possible that, in relation to the useful interior (13), a laundry dryer (10) with the smallest possible dimensions can be produced by providing a condenser (40) with as small dimensions as possible, the first cavity is, furthermore, brought into heat-conducting contact over a large area, via a heat-conducting outer wall (18; 19; 22) of the laundry dryer (10), with an exterior (17) which surrounds the laundry dryer (10) (Figure 1). <IMAGE>
