The catalyst shaped body (F) is intended, in particular, for catalytic removal of nitrogen oxide (NOx) from an exhaust gas (G) by ammonia gas (NH3), e.g. in a power station. It has a plurality of adjoining part-bodies (A, B), the flow channels (p, q) of which pass into each other in a stepped manner. At the junctions (v) of the part-bodies (A, B), the part-stream of the medium of a flow channel (p) of the one part-body (A) is divided over a plurality of flow channels (q) of the other part-body (B). As a result of this diversion of the part-stream, turbulence is induced which leads to an improved exploitation of the catalytic activity of the interior walls. <IMAGE>
