Holder for optical fibre bunch - with wedge-type entry exerting radial clamping forces on bunch

A holder for a bunch (7) of optical fibres (8) for signal light fittings (3) from a source of light (5), e.g. in railway signalling systems permits a location of the lamp bulb separate from the signal light fitting (3). The bunch of fibres is held by radial clamping forces, applied by wedge elements (36) to the end (21) of the optical fibres. These elements are urged against a female cone by tightening a clamping nut (37). ADVANTAGE - This ensures a low-loss light transmission and permits the exchange of lamp bulbs in a safe location away from the rail traffic.
