An information processing device and an operation method thereof are provided to update embedded firmware automatically without any user operation and perform firmware update easily even though the firmware is frequently updated by storing a logical part for managing operation of the firmware to a separate flash memory type memory. A memory(130) stores a firmware operation logic to a first logical area prohibiting a user to read or write data. A connector(110) connects the memory with an external device. A controller(120) communicates with a host through the connector and reads/writes the data to the memory by providing a host interface. The controller includes a first storing part(123) storing a routine for calling the firmware operation logic stored in the first logical area, a processor(121) executing the firmware operation logic stored in the first logical area by using the routine stored in the first storing part, and a second storing part(122) providing a space for loading/executing the firmware operation logic. The first logical area prohibits access of the user and includes a hidden area allowing the access to only the authorized user, and the firmware operation logic is stored to the hidden area.
