Sealing arrangement, particularly a high-pressure sealing arrangement, for a vessel or the like with a lid inserted into a lid receiver and having a flange on the vessel side, the outer wall of the lid adjoining the lid flange, on the one hand, and the complementary boundary wall of the lid receiver, on the other, forming between them an encircling sealing space. Arranged in the sealing space and resting on the lid flange is a sealing ring which has a cover on the flange side and on the opposite side. The sealing ring is supported via the corresponding cover on an abutment ring which is held with the aid of a retaining ring inserted into a groove in the boundary wall. The sealing ring comprises a compressed ring of expanded graphite. The covers each consist of at least one covering washer of expanded graphite. Arranged between the covering washer and the compressed ring of expanded graphite and on the covering washer is a metal-foil ring, the size of which corresponds essentially to that of the covering washer. <IMAGE>
