PURPOSE:To efficiently remove an iron component being an impure component while suppressing the loss of the oil component being the effective component in a coolant, by a method wherein the coolant used in the cold rolling processing of a steel material is treated by an electromagnetic filter to collect the iron component which is then backwashed by steam and the backwashing water is treated by a scraping type magnetic separator. CONSTITUTION:The coolant 2 used in steel cold rolling equipment 1 is once stored in a tank 3 and a part thereof is directly returned to the equipment 1 from the tank 3 through a pump 4 and a valve 5. On the other hand, the remaining coolant 2 is supplied to an electromagnetic filter 7 through a valve 6 to be subjected to magnetic separation treatment while the coolant after treatment is reused while recirculated to the equipment 1 through a valve 8. In addition, the iron component in the coolant 2 is collected by the filter 7 while the iron component collected and accumulated in a filter part 7d is backwashed at every definite time, for example, in a separate system formed of a valve 9, the filter 7 and valve 10 by using steam or compressed air. The backwashing water 11 issued from the filter 7 is sent to a scraping type magnetic separator 14 through a tank 12 and separated into sludge and treated water while the oil component- containing treated water is reused. |
