PURPOSE:To eliminate the positional deviation of stationary waves between phase A and phase B and improve a driving efficiency by a method wherein a means, which short-circuits the electrodes of piezoelectric element except driving electrodes, which are in the condition of opened or nearly opened electrically, to a common electrode, is provided to the title motor. CONSTITUTION:A vibrating wave motor is provided with A-phase electrodes A1-A7 for driving piezoelectric elements 3, B-phase electrodes B1-B7 for driving the piezoelectric elements 3, which are insulated from the A-phase electrodes, and an earthed electrode for supplying electric power to respective A-phase and B-phase electrodes for driving the piezoelectric elements 3 or a common electrode C. A free electrode BL is connected electrically to the common electrode C through a shortcircuit means or electroconductive bonding agent 3A and, therefore, a potential difference between the common electrode C becomes Zero. The discontinuity of rigidity in the circumferential direction of vibrating bodies 2, 3 is reduced and the deviation of resonance frequencies between the A-phase electrodes A1-A7 and the B-phase electrodes B1-B7 of the driving electrodes as well as the deviation of the phases of stationary waves generated in the A-phase electrodes A1-A7 and the B-phase electrodes B1-B7 are eliminated whereby a beautiful traveling wave is generated. According to this method, efficient driving may be realized. |
