<p>Pre-pasted wall coverings and other pre-pasted sheet materials are formed by applying a wet coating of an oil-in-water, alkali sensitive polymer and the polymer is converted to a soluble or swellable adhesive form by applying alkali to the wet coating, and the wet coating is dried. The polymer and alkali can be sprayed simultaneously through separate spray orifices but preferably they are applied sequentially, with the polymer preferably being applied by ink jet printing as a discontinuous coating followed by application of alkali.</p> |
