PURPOSE:To inhibit the lowering of the temp. of molten pig iron by prekneading prescribed percentages of an aluminous starting material of below a prescribed grain size, flake graphite and silicon carbide, further kneading the prekneaded product with the aluminous starting material of the prescribed grain size or above, making the graphite nonoriented to reduce heat conductivity. CONSTITUTION:60-94wt.% aluminous starting material consisting of 10-30wt.% grains of <125mum grain size and the balance grains of >=125mum grain size, 3-20wt.% silicon carbide and 3-20wt.% flake graphite of <=40mum diameter are weighed and used as starting materials. Among these starting materials, the aluminous starting material of <125mum grain size, the silicon carbide and the flake graphite are prekneaded with a binder and this prekneaded product is further kneaded with the aluminous starting material of >=125mum grain size. This kneaded product is molded and heat-treated. |
