PURPOSE:To decrease flare phenomenon in a main scanning direction by fixing plural plate-like members to the incident edge plane of a light guide so that they are extended almost vertically to the incident edge plane with their adjacent planes confronting each other with prescribed spaces in the main scanning direction. CONSTITUTION:The plate-like members 13 are erected vertically to the incident edge plane 8a, and provided with the planes confronting each other with the fixed spaces in the main scanning direction. Therefore, reflecting light 2a is made incident on these plate-like members 31 and a part of it is absorbed and the other part is reflected. The reflecting light 2a which is reflected by the plate-like members 31 is made incident on the incident edge plane 8a, and a part of it is made incident on the inside of the light guide 8, and a remaining part is reflected by the incident edge plane 8a. This reflected reflecting light is made incident on a stimulative phospher sheet: Since the incident position is comparatively near a scanning position P of excited light, stimulated luminous light which is caused by excited reflecting light has little influence on the quality of a picture. Thus, the flare phenomenon can be effectively dicreased in the main scanning direction where it has the most significant influence.
