GLASS-METALLIC CASE FOR SEMICONDUCTOR DEVICE AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PURPOSE: To facilitate manufacture while shortening the manufacturing time by a structure wherein a base support employs a conductor band comprising a chip fixing base and an electrical contact part having a magazine function and forming an electric terminal. CONSTITUTION: A conductor band 1 suitable for a magazine function is provided as a base support. The conductor band 1 forms the electrical terminal of a semiconductor device 2 and provided, at the end part thereof, with a fixing base 3 for the semiconductor device 2 and a required electrical contact part 4. A metal ring 5 is glazed to a head region through a hermetic seal to form a coupling element for hermetically welding the semiconductor device 2 to a surrounding metal cap 6. The metal cap 6 is provided with a planar glass window 7 for passing a light radiated from the semiconductor device 2 through the case.
