PURPOSE:To prevent a shock or a sudden increase of a rotary speed by controlling connecting force of a lockup clutch in a decreasing direction from the point of time of a predetermined operation region, when a transfer is detected of the lockup clutch to its complete release operation region. CONSTITUTION:A slip control device for a fluid coupling, in a predetermined operation region judged from an engine load and a drive system speed, controls connecting force (slip rate) of a lockup clutch to a predetermined value. In this predetermined operation region, when a detecting means detects a transfer from the predetermined operation region to an operation region where the lockup clutch is completely released, a control means starts from the predetermined operation region a control of the connecting force to its decreasing direction of the lockup clutch. Thus, a shock or a sudden increase of a rotary speed can be prevented of the lockup clutch when it is released. |
