<p>PURPOSE:To minimize the fuel fed from the outside of the system and carry out the reaction in a simple apparatus in obtaining a synthetic gas from a hydrocarbon and steam and bringing the result and synthetic gas into contact with a catalyst, by making the amount of generated steam and the amount of the consumed steam almost equal. CONSTITUTION:A mixture consisting essentially of a hydrocaron and steam is fed from a pipe 6 into the first steam reforming reaction tube 18 and subjected to the primary reforming reaction at a high temperature. The resultant effluent and an oxidizing gas are fed from a pipe 7 into the second reactor 25 and subjected to the second steam reforming reaction in the intermittent and exothermic manner to give a synthetic gas. The first reactor tube 18 is heated by a high-temperature combustion gas of a fuel passing through the outside of the outer tube of the reaction tube 18 and an effulent from the second reactor 25 passing through the inside of the inner tube 19. The synthetic gas at areduced temperature is boosted by a synthetic gas compressor 57 and a circulator 58 for the boosted synthetic gas, and then subjected to a step of synthesizing an alcohol consisting of catalytic beds 60 and 61 for synthesizing the alcohol, a medium pressure steam generator (using the heat of the reaction in the above-mentioned catalytic beds as a heat source), a heat exchanger 59 and separators 63 and 64 for the condensate to give the aimed substance.</p> |
