PURPOSE:To obtain a thermosensitive recording medium with an excellent compatibility with a high-speed recording, high whiteness, well-balanced properties and without inducing a phenomenon of whitening by adding at least one kind of a specific aromatic ether compound to a thermosensitive color developing layer. CONSTITUTION:A thermosensitive recording medium consists of a sheet-like base, a colorless or pale dye precursor formed on, at least, one surface of the sheet-like base and a thermosensitive color developing layer containing a coloring agent which develops color due to thermal reaction with the precursor. At least, one of aromatic ether compounds shown in formulae (I) and (II) is used in the thermosensitive color developing layer. Consequently, an extremely high recording sensitivity is obtained without deteriorating whiteness and without experiencing a phenomenon of whitening which makes a color-developed image milky, i.e. deterioration of the image. A specific thermomelting material (sensitivity improver) is 1,2,2'-diphenoxybiphenyl (melting point 100 deg.C) as a typical example. |
