With a method of and an apparatus for making an especially plate-shaped moulding of a pulverulent granulate, the granulate is filled into a mould cavity (26) between an upper mould (12) and a lower mould (24) and is then pressed. In order to achieve a uniform filling of the mould cavity (26), the granulate is poured onto the top of the upper mould (12). It trickles through an outlet slit (17) into the mould cavity (26). The upper mould (12) is rotated about a vertical central axis (M) until the mould cavity (26) is filled. The outlet slit (17) sweeps over the mould surface (F) of the lower mould (24). <IMAGE>
