PURPOSE:To reduce a search speed and to enable to search accurate address by driving in performing successive jumping operation by a prescribed number of recording tracks at prescribed time which is not in an address information recording period. CONSTITUTION:A desired search address inputted by a search address specifying device 13 and a current address are sent to a frame number comparator 14, which compares the both for every TV field by a vertical synchronizing signal from a vertical synchronizing signal separator 12 to output their address difference. A carriage speed selector 15 controls a carriage motor driver 18 according to the absolute value of the address difference. At the same time, the output polarities of the carriage motor driver 18 are changed according to the sign code of the address difference and a carriage motor 20 is so controlled that the absolute value of the address difference is minimized. |
