PURPOSE:To enable a person to have a conversation who does not understand entirely foreign languages including English, etc. with a foreigner by a telephone, by adding an automatic electronic interpreting function to a terminal telephone set. CONSTITUTION:When a person says ''Who are you?'' to a mike 1, this sentence is converted into character signals by a voice recognizing circuit 3, then stored temporarily in a memory of an electronic interpreting circuit 4. If the input level of an input signal supplied from the mike 1 is kept under the prescribed valve for about 1.0sec, a VOX9 is actuated to give an indication of interpretation to the circuit 4. Then character signals showing ''Who are you?'' are sent to a voice synthesizing circuit 5. The circuit 5 converts these character signals into voice signals showing also ''Who are you?'' and transmits them to a terminal device of the remote station via a VCA6, an HT7 and an exchange. A switch 20 does not conduct while the output of the VCA6 is advancing. In this case, the voice of the remote side is not interpreted. |
