A backlight unit and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) having the same are provided to configure a pattern unit in a diffusion plate or configure a diffusion plate having a horizontal pattern unit between light emitting lamps, thereby preventing pre-projection of a light emitting lamp. A backlight unit comprises the following. An outer case(41) fixes and supports plural light emitting lamps(42). A pattern unit(43a) is formed in an area put on an upper part where the light emitting lamps are disposed. A non-pattern unit(43b) is defined between the light emitting lamps. The pattern unit and the non-pattern unit are alternatively configured in a diffusion plate(43). A light scattering unit(44) is configured in an upper part of the diffusion plate. |
