PURPOSE:To carry out scouring and bleaching without deteriorating strength and falling off zeolite particles by scouring a fiber structure consisting of zeolite- containing polyester fiber and cellulosic fiber in a bath containing sodium chlorite and a surfactant. CONSTITUTION:Particles prepared by carrying metallic ions (preferred example; Ag, Cu or Zn ions) having antimicrobial action on zeolite particles by ion exchange are kneaded with polyethylene terephthalate, etc., and the resultant blend is spun to provide polyester fiber, which is then blended or combined with cellulosic fiber to afford a fiber structure. The resultant fiber structure is preferably desized with an enzyme, then scoured and bleached in a bath containing 0.1-5.0% owf, preferably 0.5-3.0% owf (available chlorine concentration) sodium chlorite and 0.1-5.0% owf, preferably 0.5-3.0% owf surfactant having emulsifying and wetting action. The resultant scoured and bleached fabric has excellent antimicrobial effects and good rewettability. |
