<p>PURPOSE:To make it possible to predict the time and place to exchange cutter bit by wearably burying an electric resistance body together with the tip section through insulating material and constituting a detector so as to detect the variation of the resistance value of the resistance body and to judge the abrasion quantity of the cutter bit. CONSTITUTION:A cutter bit 1 is composed of a shank 3 which is the body of the cutter bit 1, cemented carbide tips 4 and 5 for cutting fixed to the head of the cutting edge of the shank 3. In the next step, a narrow pipe like hole 7 is bored in the thickness direction of the cutter bit 1 from the front face of the cemented carbide tip 4 facing to a cutting edge face S in the cutter bit 1. Then, a resistance body 9 coated with insulating material 8 made of synthetic resin is varied in the hole 7 with the head section 9a being in line with the surface of the tip 4. In addition, both ends of the rear end section 9b of the resistance body 9 are provided with an anode 11 and cathode 12 respectively to form an electric circuit 15. When cutting progresses and the cutter bit 1 wears, the resistance body 9 also wears simultaneously in the same degree, and width B become short. Therefore, since length L and thickness (t) are not changed, resistance value varying because of the shortening of the width B can be judged to be same as the wearing quantity of the cutter bit 1.</p> |
