Ceramic articles with a marbleized pattern are produced on a potter's wheel from an incompletely mixed combination of a plurality of plastic compositions of contrasting pigmentation. The incompletely mixed combination is molded to obtain a multifaceted or fluted surface which is cut during rotation to trim away the facets or flutes, producing an article with an annular cross section and the required marbleized pattern.
