Instruments are sterilised by the action of liq. such as peracetic acid which is vaporised round the instruments while these are held in an enclosed cabinet where the liq. is vaporised electrically, by heat exchange etc. The instruments are held in the circular central enclosure (12) of a flat container inserted into the cabinet. Round the central enclosure, the flat container has an open topped area (13) whose volume is about 5-20 times that of the central enclosure.
