Vehicle charging system directly related to atmos. pollution - compares measured exhaust gas compsn. and quantity and other relevant factors against set standards

Inducement to efficient use of engines, esp. in vehicles, is provided by a charging system directly related to contaminating exhaust emissions, using an evaluation comparator. The basic data supplied to the evaluator are firstly the amt. of emission, measured e.g. by a hot wire anemometer or a turbine counter, and secondly the emission compsn., measured by a spectrometer or lambda probe and classifying by stages the concn. of NOX, CO, CO2, HC, SO2 etc. Totals of these data are compared with stored standard values for different pollution levels. Also taken into account are the weight carried by the vehicle and/or the number of passengers, measured by seat contents. After connection for any errors establised in the evaluator, a printed account is prepd. for settlement by the driver at established locations such as banks, garages or filling stations. ADVANTAGE - Provides a more rational charging system than current taxation procedures, which ignore many factors, esp. the engine condition and efficiency, which have direct effect on pollution of atmos..
