PURPOSE:To systematize estimate of man-hour by applying a knowledge base system to estimate the man-hour with human rule of thumb. CONSTITUTION:A display device 2 as the output device used for execution of this system, a printer 4, and a keyboard 3 as the input device are connected to a computer 1. Knowledge related to estimate exists in a knowledge base 6 of the computer 1; and when execution of the system is started, an inference mechanism 5 refers to the knowledge in the knowledge base 6 to automatically generate a question and outputs it to a display device 2. A user inputs an answer to the question from the keyboard 3, and estimate is executed in accordance with the answer and results are outputted to the display device 2 or the printer 4. Thus, a conventional manual work is systematized, and the user easily estimates the man-hour though he is not an expert.
