Sealing frame for an assembled luminaire housing

Luminaires for a higher degree of protection have to be sealed against the penetration of dust and humidity. When these luminaires consist of a plurality of housing parts, rubber or plastic profiles are mostly inserted as sealings into the edge regions in the shape of a frame. For this purpose, a closed sealing frame is proposed which can be manufactured by the luminaire manufacturer from a continuous material, achieves over the entire circumference a perfect sealing effect and has the same good elasticity in the entire region of the profile. In the sealing frame, the sealing profile (1) which has been cut from a continuous tube-shaped material to the required length forms with its two ends (1a, 1b) which have been guided together a butt (1c). The ends (1a, 1b) are joined obliquely to the sealing plane in the same direction at the sealing profile (1). At the butt (1c) the ends (1a, 1b) which are tightly located together and overlap obliquely, are glued together with precisely matching contours to form a closed profile cross-section. The bonding joint is subsequently equalised by grinding it with a fine-grain abrasive so as to have a flush surface. The sealing frame is envisaged for use in dampproof luminaires for a high degree of protection.
