PURPOSE: To provide anti-lock control functions using simple constitution by selectively opening a dump valve when the difference between the speed of rear wheels and a calculated theoretical ramp value exceeds a predetermined slip threshold after a shutoff valve has been closed to maintain rear brake pressures. CONSTITUTION: If the excessive deceleration of rear wheels 20a, 20b is detected by a speed sensor 40 at the stop of a vehicle, an electronic control module 30 closes a shutoff valve 22 to maintain pressures at rear brakes at a relatively constant level, since the rear wheels approach lock-up. If, after the shutoff valve 22 has been closed, the difference between the speed of the rear wheels and a calculated theoretical speed ramp value exceeds a predetermined slip threshold and the amount of deceleration of the rear wheels exceeds a predetermined amount, a dump valve 26 is selectively opened to reduce rear brake pressures to correct the deviation of first wheel speed. Thus, anti-lock control can be effected using simple constitution.
