DIELECTRIC TRANSMISSION LINE

PURPOSE:To transmit a microwave with small and simple constitution and very low loss by providing a taper to the end of a dielectric line and supporting the end of the dielectric line with a matching section having a face tapered in mating with the taper section. CONSTITUTION:A dielectric transmission line 5 is provided with a rectangular waveguide 6 connecting to a repeater 3 and a rectangular waveguide 7 in the TE10 mode connecting to the rectangular waveguide 6 via a flange 7a. A circular waveguide 9 in the TE11 mode is connected to the rectangular waveguide 7 via a rectangle-circle converter 8. A matching section 10 in formed integrally to the circular waveguide 9 and one end of a dielectric line 11 is directly supported by the matching section 10 at a length. (t). A taper 11a is formed to both ends of the dielectric line 11. Moreover, the matching section 10 is tapered as a taper face 10a in matching with the taper 11a and the air occupied cross sectional area in the matching section 10 is varied gradually inversely proportional to that of the end (taper 11a) of the end of the dielectric line 11.
