PURPOSE:The titled lotion, consisting of a water-insoluble and water-absorbing (hydrous) polymer obtained by polymerizing a starch with a water-soluble monomer and a crosslinking agent, ethyl alcohol and water, having high safety, refreshing feeling after the application thereof and improved stability. CONSTITUTION:A hydrous gelatinous lotion consisting of (A) 0.05-5.0wt%, preferably 0.2-3.0wt% water-insoluble and water-absorbing polymer, (B) 5- 20wt% ethyl alcohol and water as main constituents. The component (A) is a polymer obtained by polymerizing starch with a water-soluble polymerizable monomer or a monomer which will be soluble in water by the hydrolysis, e.g. vinyl or vinylidene type, and a crosslinking agent at a weight ratio of 100:(50- 1,000):(0.001-10), and if necessary hydrolyzing the resultant polymer, and has a slight water absorbing ability of at least 60ml/g and a particle diameter of about 100mu on drying. The resultant lotion will not irritate the skin and can be applied easily to give a wet touch. |
