The method involves determining a regime set point of a shaft (8) of a mechanically controlled gear box (9) and a saturation set point of torque produced by an electric traction machine (12). A clutch device (6) is progressively opened. A torque triggering the rotation of the shaft is applied by the electric traction machine, till attaining a value of the saturation set point of the torque produced by the electric traction machine. A value of the applied torque is measured by a torque sensor in real time.
