<p>PURPOSE:To correct meandering without impairing the profile of a strip by recognizing the meandering state of the strip under rolling and moving a pair of work rolls during the rolling along the central axes of the work rolls in accordance with the above-mentioned state. CONSTITUTION:Information on the meandering state of the strip 1 under rolling, for example, the information on the meandering direction, meandering quantity, meandering speed or meandering acceleration, are first obtd. and at about what degree the meandering is generated in the strip 1 at the present point of time is known in this way. The work rolls 14, 15 are thereafter moved in real time along the central axes 19, 20 of the work rolls in accordance with the recognized meandering state. The strip 1 is moved together with the work rolls 14, 15 toward the strip width with substantially no change in the rolling conditions by such shifting of the work rolls 14, 15, by which the meandering is powerfully corrected.</p> |
