PURPOSE:To improve the image resolution of a large reflecting original by providing an optical path switch means which forms an image with the reflected illumination light and the transmitted illumination light via the same image forming optical system and also leads the light received from an original to a line sensor. CONSTITUTION:A casing 110 contains an optical path switch means 118 which leads the light L1 transmitted through an image forming lens 116 and the light reflected by the lens 116 to the reading means 112 and 114 respectively. The means 114 includes the reflecting mirrors 140a and 140b which are set opposite to both edge parts of a main scan line of a reflecting original S2. Both mirrors 140a and 140b are positioned at 45 deg. to the vertical direction, and the reflected light line sensors, e.g. CCD 142 and 144 are set above the mirrors 140a and 140b respectively. At the same time, a CCD 146 serving as a line sensor is also set on an optical path of the reflected light passing through a gap formed between both mirrors 140a and 140b. Thus, it is possible to read a reflecting original of a comparatively large size via plural CCDs and to secure the high image resolution. |
