PRODUCTION OF UNSATURATED DICARBOXIMIDE-BASED COMPOUND

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject high-purity compound with saved energy by subjecting an unsaturated dicarboxamide ester compound readily available from an unsaturated dicarboxamide compound and an ortho ester to dealcoholization reaction in the presence of a basic catalyst in a nonpolar solvent. CONSTITUTION:An unsaturated dicarboxamide ester compound expressed by formula I (D is bifunctional organic group having at least one carbon-carbon double bond; R<1> is n-functional organic group containing at least one C; R<2> is monofunctional organic group containing at least one C; n is >=1) is subjected to dealcoholization reaction in the presence of a basic catalyst in a nonpolar solvent and cyclized to afford an unsaturated dicarboximide-based compound expressed by formula II. Since the above-mentioned method can be carried out in a short time with low energy, the objective compound is obtained in high purity with hardly any high-molecular weight components. The starting material is readily produced. The unsaturated dicarboximide-based compound is useful for producing addition type imide resins.
