PURPOSE:To reduce a change of appearance, to prevent the discharge of org. gas and to enhance fire retardant property by successively impregnating a wooden material with aqueous solutions of inorg. cations and anions to form an insoluble inorg. salt in the wooden material. CONSTITUTION:Wood veneer 1 is immersed in the water filled in a water tank 3 to be subjected to water saturation treatment and subsequently immersed in an aqueous solution 4 of inorg. cations (e.g., Al<2+>, Mg<2+>, Zn<2+>, Ca<2+>, Ba<2+>) and an aqueous solution 5 of inorg. anions (e.g., HPO4<2->, CO3<2->, SO4<2->) in succession. After the wood veneer 1 is immersed in two solutions, said wood veneer 1 is again immersed in a separate water tank 6 to remove soluble components from the wood veneer 1 and dried. The wood veneers 1 subjected to the inorg. treatment are laminated to both surfaces of a base material 7 so that the fiber directions of both veneers cross each other and subjected to press processing to obtain cross plywood 12. Since an insoluble salt is formed in the wood veneer, appearance is not changed and, because of the non-combustible inorg. salt, no org. gas is discharged and fire-retardant properties are enhanced. Further, since the cation and anion are infiltrated in the wood veneer in a soluble state and reacted after impregnation, an impregnation rate is made easy to enhance.
|
