PURPOSE:To obtain an artificial stone having excellent stain resistance, heat resistance and scratch resistance and capable of splendidly representing the appearance thereof by polishing the surface of a molded article containing quartz granules, aluminum hydroxide powder and colored glass granules in an unsaturated polyester resin. CONSTITUTION:A molding material prepared by blending an unsaturated polyester resin with quartz granules, aluminum hydroxide powder and colored glass granules used as fillers is molded. Then the surface of the molded article is polished to provide the aimed artificial stone. In the above-mentioned artificial stone, blend ratio of the unsaturated polyester, quartz granules, aluminum hydroxide and colored glass granules is each preferably set to 5-30wt.%, 50-90wt.%, 3-15wt.% and 1-10wt.%. In production of the artificial stone, quartz granules contained inside can be exposed on the surface of the artificial stone and effect for improving surface hardness of the artificial stone by the quartz granules can be enhanced by polishing the surface of the molded article. |
